    This is a request for adding a new card network identifier from India.

• Recommended network identifier : rupay
• National Payments Corporation of India(NPCI) owns RuPay. NPCI is an umbrella organization for all retail payments system in India. It was set up with the guidance and support of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Indian Banks’ Association (IBA).  RuPay card payment scheme was conceived to fulfill RBI’s vision to offer a domestic, open-loop, multilateral system which will allow all Indian banks and financial institutions in India to participate in electronic payments.
• As per public information, over 300 mn Rupay cards are in circulation.
• From NPCI statistics, 87.5mn ecommerce & 195mn POS transactions happened between April 2016 and March 2017.
