Dear participants in the translation process, The purpose of this message is to send a summary of the Danish CAT WCAG 2.1 (as stated in 5.3 of the Policies for Authorized W3C Translations <http://www.w3.org/2005/02/TranslationPolicy.html><http://www.w3.org/2005/02/TranslationPolicy.html>) All comments received during the public comment period in the 30 days review period, starting 19.9.2019 were reviewed and resolved. None of the comments/changes constitute substantial change (eg. change in meaning), which would require re-review. Most corrections were related to better adaptation to Danish, spelling corrections, typos and minor changes in wording to better understanding in the local language. A big part of the comments were related to the complexity and understanding of the WCAG -standard, and wish for a more "light-readable" version. This is unfortunately not in the power this translation, as the Danish-translation has to represent the direct meaning of the original English W3C-version. The majority of contributions were consolidated and implemented in the document on September/November 2019. A considerable number of stakeholders have reviewed the translation (2 of government sector, 1 from the regional sector, 3 from the municipal sector, 3 from interest organizations/civil society organizations (e.g. Institute for the Blind and visually impaired/the Danish institute for Human rights/ The Danish Chamber of Commerce) and 5 from private sector/suppliers working with accessibility. It is important to mention that the reviewers are Danish and they all revised it on behalf of their respectable organization. The 14 reviews were overall distributed as follows: - Translation approved/no comments: 9 - Language correction/wording/typos: 3 - Wish for a more understandable/easy-to-read WCAG version: 2 Only a few comments did not lead to changes in the CAT, as they had been debated earlier during the pre-review: - The translation of "Author": This word is in the English WCAG 2.1 "word explanation", and is given a direct translation to "Forfatter". - The translation of "pointer hover" in criterion 1.4.13. This sentence/word has been debated a lot, and ended on "svve markr" - Section 0.2: The reference to WCAG 2.0 in the English version, and to 2.1 in the translation: This is a typo in the English version as the links refer to WCAG 2.1 - Criterion 5.3.1: The request to change URI to URL. There is a difference between the two concepts, and the translation use "URI" as the original English version - Minor changes in wording to better understanding in the local language - Links to documents in English were retained, but with the word (Engelsk - "in English) after them. One stakeholder has commented, that it would be nice if all the references also were translated, but due to lack of resources this is unfortunately not a possibility. In the response/wish for a more understandable/easy-to-read WCAG version, W3C refer to "Getting Started Tips" and "Tutorials" at: - https://www.w3.org/WAI/design-develop/ The relative limited amount of comment is believed to be because of the preliminary review, which was sent out from the 2.7.2019 to 2.8.2019 to a very large number of stakeholder representatives of public sector bodies, disability organizations, umbrella organizations, organizations evaluating accessibility, private sector, etc (over 400 recipients) where the majority of feed-back was handled and corrected. In response to questions from the W3C, the Danish LTO confirms that: #1. All of the 14 stakeholder organizations that participated in the final review of the translation were part of the list of reviewers that received the request to participate. #2. There are no objections to the publication amongst those, who did not explicitly approve the translation, or those who did not comment in the reviewprocess. #3. The pre-review and formal review have been sent out to over 400 stakeholder representatives which have been encouraged to participate. There is not believed to be any critical gabs, as the ones who have had the interest to participate has done so The dedicated mailing list set up for the review process was: public-auth-trans-da@w3.org<mailto:public-auth-trans-da@w3.org> An errata page will be maintained by the LTO at the following address: https://digst.dk/digital-service/webtilgaengelighed/wcag-21-standarden/ In this page, a publicly archived mailing list containing correction suggestions will be at: https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-auth-trans-da/ The revised Danish CAT of WCAG 2.1 is available at :https://www.w3.org/Translations/WCAG21-da-CAT/Overview.html According to 5 of the Policies for Authorized W3C Translations <http://www.w3.org/2005/02/TranslationPolicy.html><http://www.w3.org/2005/02/TranslationPolicy.html> we consider that the translation is complete. ................................................................................
