Summary report for the Authorized Chinese Translation of WCAG 2.0

Dear translators and reviewers,

I am glad to inform you that we have completely finished the review of
the Authorized Chinese Translation of WCAG 2.0. The latest version is
available at [1]. This version has also been checked by the local
stakeholders [2] and we have achieved the consensus on the final
translation.

During the public review period, the LTO received total of 189 detail
comments listed in [3]. Duplicate comments were filtered and comments
resulting from misunderstandings were removed, and the consolidated
disposition of was established at [4] and addressed in this latest
translation.

The comments received did not show substantial issues or
misinterpretations in the initial translation, so that a second public
review period was not necessary. One particular issue we tackled was
about the translation of the keyword "Robust", one of the 4 principles
of WCAG 2.0. We checked with W3C WAI ___domain staff, staff in W3C Beihang
site who were not originally involved with this review work, and we also
referred to the recommended Chinese translation of W3C glossary
maintained by HTML5 Chinese Interest Group, and finally we reached the
consensus to use ³���� as the transliteration of "Robust". Most of the
related discussions are archived in mailing list [5]. All the comments
above have been responded to in the latest version.

Sometimes it is not easy to find the proper Chinese equivalents for
certain phrases and keywords, due to the differences between English and
Chinese. We employed a translation method that ensures concise and
explicit translations, and that keeps the translations matching the
original English document as much as possible. We also put consideration
into some special cases, for example, the translation of some keywords
differs in Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and we plan to create a
page stating translators' notes and reviewers' explanations, to avoid
repeating similar discussions in future related translation efforts.

the lead translation organization (LTO), which in this case is the W3C
Beihang host.
